book cover Ms Buttrose has published her second book on etiquette, the first released 25 years ago. Many things have changed in 25 years, but Buttrose unerring ability to scold the reader in the sweetest possible way has not. In fact, she has gotten feistier and funnier with age, chiding people for showing their armpits at the opera, "Revolting," she says. Buttrose has quite an aversion to bare feet too, particularly at the cinema, on a plane and just pretty much anywhere in public. Many of the chapters cover the same ground as her previous etiquette effort, Every Occasion, and indeed many other etiquette books, including weddings, christenings, entertaining and dining out. However, this is truly a guide for the modern era, complete with tips for Tweeting, Facebook, emails and text messaging. Modern relationships are given the Ita treatment too, including what to do when a parent finds their teenager in bed with a strange boy/girl and there is no reason for the bride to wear white any more! She also questions why should the best man be a man? Books like this make us reflect on modern society and behaviour and laugh at ourselves and perhaps think twice before we do some things!
