Melbourne model Andrej Pejic is one of the most sought after models in the world right now having scored contracts to model the most beautiful dresses from some of Europe's most prestigious fashion houses, but there is much more to this leggy blonde than first meets the eye. Despite taking the world of women's fashion by storm, Pejik is a 19 year-old boy from Broadmeadows who was first discovered two years ago while working at McDonalds.

Since that time, Pejic has enjoyed a rapid ascension to the top of the fashion world, modeling both male and female fashion for Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood just to name a few. And at six feet two inches tall, with long blonde hair, a full pout, and a flat chest that many female models could only hope for, it is little wonder that he has made such a splash.

Harriet Quick from Vogue believes that Pejic represents the break down of traditional stereotypes in the fashion industry.

"For the past decade, fashion has concentrated on the alpha male and alpha female stereotype," Quick told the Sydney Morning Herald. "Now it's all about questioning sexuality and blurring the boundaries. Andrej is reflecting our times - he's what's out there; he's reflecting culture."

Pejic came to Australia as a refugee from Bosnia with his mother, grandmother and brother at the age of nine and will return home to Melbourne later this month to appear alongside Jennifer Hawkins at the gala opening of Myers revamped Bourke St store.
