Get out and show your support Last week our community was attacked by narrow minded bigotry, but when we as a community stood together we showed out true strength. This example of what we can achieve when we stand together shows why the traditional Pride Rally and March to fair day is so important. After much consultation with the police and council, the rally and march has been confirmed. The Annual Brisbane Pride Festival March and Rally will be going ahead on June 11, 2011. Bring your placards, bring your banners, bring your children, bring your dogs, bring your parents, bring your friends to hear leaders of our community speak about the issues that are important to us. Following the rally you can join a thousands of the GLBTI community and our supporters as we take to the streets and march along a brand new route to the QNews Carnivale at Perry Park. The rally will start in Alden St. behind the Wickham Hotel at 10am followed by our march to Brisbane Carnivale in Perry Park. The Wickham hotel will be closed for the event. The March will head down Wickham St, Down Breakfast Creek road to Perry Park. Come along and march for this iconic event, made even more important with the ignorance shown recently by the homophobic removal of the Rip N Roll campaign posters from Brisbane bus shelters.
As always the Dykes on Bikes will lead the parade with community groups, friends and family dancing, marching, protesting and parading through the Valley. Lets stop the traffic, and kick start a new era of awareness and acceptance.
