3rd March - Receive comprehensive training and be a mentor Want to make a difference in the lives of young people? All mentors and volunteers will receive comprehensive training regarding knowledge and skills to best support LGBTQIS young people with a training session to run early on Sat 3rd March 2012 (9:30am-4:30pm).
If you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, intersex, or sistergirl and want to give back to the community? Expanded Horizons/QSPACE are currently seeking mentors and volunteers to support LGBTQIS young people on the Gold Coast and are in preparations for a volunteer training day.
One of the programs run by Expanded Horizons in need of volunteers is QSPACE - an open group drop in located in Southport for 13-17 year olds that are same sex attracted or questioning their sexuality or gender identity.
To see QSPACE in action, it is as simple as checking out their recently launched youtube clip that takes one through the experience of a newcomer’s tour through QSPACE. The video can be viewed by visiting www.youtube.com and searching ‘QSpace Introduction Tour.’
Anyone interested in becoming a mentor/volunteer or seeking more information is encouraged to contact Expanded Horizons on (07) 5569 1826 or email n.whitmore@wmb.org.au
What your doing for Bent(acroym that says everyone) young ppl. Would love to volunteer but live up on the Sunshine Coast. If you ever have an outing (no pun included) up here count me in. Or if anyone there just needs a friend to chat to, can get me on: damngood@live.com.au
Thanks.
Thank for including intersex people in your article and acronym - "LGBTQIS young people" - if not the header of this article. Intersex people are excluded by default, and we must not be. We are as persecuted due to homophobia as the rest of LGBTQIS, albeit in slightly different ways.
