LOOKING FOR BAKERS, BUILDERS & BIDDERS

Ready.Steady.Bake!

Ready.Steady.Bake!

Where else can you find sequins, sugar, spice and all things nice? Nowhere but the annual Sporties Charity Bakeoff.  Each year a few hundred generous people gather to raise money for a damn good cause and have a whole heap of fun in the process.

There are heaps of ways you can get involved and not all of them involve baking!  Last year one very famous showgirl  even went down to Woollies and bought a cake, added a few fun items on top and entered it into the event for a bit of fun.  All would have been good if she didn't have a couple of G&Ts and then dobbed herself in.

People are invited to either bake something and pay a small entry fee that goes to charity and then judges sample a small part of the goods and declare a winner in each category.  The cakes are then auctioned off, some very cheap and some at totally overinflated prices but nobody cares as at the end of the day charities are the real winners.

Now if baking is not your thing you may want to contribute some ART or CRAFT or maybe just donate a prize to be raffled.  But certainly anyone with a quid in their pocket, especially businesses are encouraged to come along and put your hand up for the auction.  The auction is very fast and pacey thanks to the inimitable Paul Kratzman who does an absolute spiffing job.

Now that is NOT ALL … there is a heap of entertainment on the day, more showgirls than a travelling Les Girls  cast plus some very hot bar staff and all of whom donate their time to help raise more money.  Raffles galore plus Paul has even been known to accept bids from some cheeky punters who will pay a few dollars more if some of the hot helpers (mostly the bar boyz) take their tops off and show a bit of chest.

This is a totally crazy Sunday afternoon scheduled for August 26th Sportsman Hotel, Leichhardt street, Spring Hill, Brisbane.
