MUSIC REVIEW - MARVIN PRIEST

Marvin Priest – Beats and Blips

Marvin Priest – Beats and Blips

When I first came across this name I immediately thought Maxi Priest was back with a new album.

Turns out it was just a dyslexic moment and that this new British/Australian talent is actually the offspring of Maxi Priest and is taking the pop world by storm. Marvin brings a lot of music influences to his music – mainly dance, pop and reggae. If wanting to sample reggae with a slight house twinge then this album will be an experience. This ‘reggae mixed dance feel ‘is evident in tracks such as ‘Waiting,’ ‘Work It,’ and even ‘To Your Hear t,’ where Marvin treats you all to his rapping talents too. Marvin has potential. This album also feature’s Marvin’s current commercial debuts ‘Own This Club’ and ‘Take Me Away.’ This naive editor didn’t realise ‘Own This Club’ was Marvin but someone else in the Jason Derulo/Taio/Neyo category... Overall good to see another British/ Aus export taking on the American pop genre alongside people like Timomatic but also liking that Marvin also delivers his own reggae, upbringing influences into the mix.
