POS-POS BAREBACKING

POS-POS BAREBACKING

POS-POS BAREBACKING

A lot of guys with HIV are turning to other positive men for casual sex.  What’s wrong with that?  Nothing actually, except that it often seems to be implied that condoms aren’t necessary when both guys are positive.  Many guys seek out other positive guys for just that reason.

The problem is, there’s more to worry about than just HIV.  You can catch a lot of other infections that can really ruin your day, and some of them can be life threatening.  And if you already have HIV, some of these conditions can be quite difficult to treat.

Lately we’ve had HIV positive patients come in with newly acquired Hepatitis C, syphilis, herpes, anal warts, the list goes on.  Getting diagnosed with Hep C is very serious, and treatment is 6 to 12 months of injections and side effects, and there’s no guarantee it will work.

There’s also the possibility of getting infected with someone else’s HIV strain, which may be resistant to treatment.

So casual barebacking with other positive guys can be very risky.  My advice is don’t do it.  If you’re going to do it anyway, make sure you use plenty of lube and come in and get tested for all those nasties every 2 or 3 months, and get any symptoms checked out immediately.

What about Poz mens right to Bareback

Since when has it been a law that Poz men can't serosort with each other. And what is the risk when you all ready are living with HIV and AIDS. Pos men need and have the right to sexual relations without barriers of condoms with other same status partners. This article seems more aimed at alarming rates of barebacking by status unknown gay men. Poz gay men will continue to bareback with their own kind. To remove this only pleasure left to us is HIVphobic, but a form of segregation.

The simple fact is these STI will effect many men even if they use a condom. Maybe you should talk about disclosure and the positive effects of sero sorting between poz men such as reducing the viral load in the community, reducing the chance of being falsely charged with infecting negative partners who say they are positive in order to be breed.

Alarmist unproven claims of double super infection between HIV positive men contends that all gay pos sex is unhealthy sex, to be only protected by a sheet of rubber.

I would like to see the heterosexuals having to use a condom every time they FUCK! Because as we know its the straights most at risk of HIV these days. Anybody sexually active is at risk of these infections, to single out pos men is alarming and evident of the sick culture by health nannies in this state.

Dear Anonymous I think you

Dear Anonymous

I think you failed to grasp the point of my article, which was that there are potential consequences from serosorting.

As I pointed out in my article - I frequently see new cases of STIs in positive guys who are serosorting and choosing not to wear condoms.  Most of these guys would prefer not to have caught syphilis or warts or gonorrhoea.

Naturally it is up to the individual to protect themselves and they can choose not to if they wish.

I don't believe there was anything alarmist in my article.

As always, my goal is to educate the readers so they can make informed choices about their health.
