Brisbane's Big Gay Day 2009 Is Here

The Wickham Hotel in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley will play host to Queensland's largest gay and lesbian event, Big Gay Day 2009 on Sunday 15th March from midday.

Big Gay Day is an annual fund raising event that last year raised over $35,000 for gay and lesbian charities. Organisers hope this year to raise even more.

This 12 hour summer day time street party is held on the streets surrounding the Wickham Hotel and in past years has seen the likes of Tina Cousins, Marcia Hines, Denni Hines, Vanessa Amorossi and Rogue Traders grace the main stage. This year the stellar line-up includes Crystal Waters, Operator Please, TV Rock & Zoe Badwi, The Ultimate Kylie Show, Mega Drag and all of the hot, hot guys in the Final of the Mr Q- Search for a Cover Boi competition.

Big Gay Day has now become Australia's second largest gay and lesbian party, only behind the Sydney's Mardi Gras Afterparty. And at only $30, it is certainly Australia's best value of money GLBT event.

MEET YOUR BIG GAY DAY DJs

Not only will there be dancing on the street at this years Brisbane Big Gay Day, but both the main Wickham Bar and Level One of the Wickham Hotel will be in full operation with a huge variety of DJs on offer.

Level One of the Wickham Hotel will open at 2pm with the Wickham Hotel's rising new DJ star Paulie B showcasing his amazing talents. Paulie B plays until 4pm when Brisbane's favourite bear DJ duo hits the decks. The Double Up Bears will play from 4pm till 7pm with their fun and eclectic style. Taking over at 7pm will be the super talented Corey Czok with his style of thumping loud dirty bass lines.

The Main bar of the Wickham will play to host to Harry K, the man behind Precious. Harry is on from 12 till 2pm. Following on from him will be Les Smith, Brisbane's legendary and longest playing DJ who has played at the Wickham for more years than he can remember. Les plays from 2pm till 4pm.

Changing the pace on the decks at 4pm will be the entertaining duo of Mr Men who last year were one of the hits of Big Gay Day. Mr Men will be on from 4pm till 5:30pm. Kandi Kane is next up on the on the wheels of steel from 5:30pm till 7pm with his fab sexy house sound. Following on from Kandy Kane will be Khris from 7pm till 9pm with his upfront chunky house. Ish is next on the decks from 9pm till 10:30pm with her pumping electro house sound. To close this years Big Gay Day from 10:30pm will be Brisbane local, and Australian favourite Matt Steer showcasing not only his DJ skills but his skills in the production studio.
