Body Worship – Join Oprah in the Year of Hopefulness

In the New Year I have done a little soul searching about life, love, spirituality and fitness…..and admit I found myself watching Oprah thinking– this is so true:
“Fame and success don’t mean anything if you can’t control your own being. …..I am mad at myself. I am embarrassed. With all the other things that I know how to do and all the other things that I’m so great at and all the other accomplishments, I can’t believe I’m still talking about weight”.

Your body is your temple. An ongoing theme is that weight and fitness are not necessarily cosmetic issues – they are emotional issues.

In the book If Life is a Game – these are the Rules by Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott she states basically that you are given one body – like it or hate it you are going to go through life with it – so you had better make the most of it. Author Marianne Williamson attributes much about weight to issues of love, and more importantly self-love. So is the goal to lose weight a good or bad thing? Oprah is committed not to getting thin, but to “be the weight that my body can hold and be strong and fit and be itself”. Losing weight as a goal in isolation isn’t bad – but it requires a bigger picture strategy to be truly worthwhile.

Finding balance & Planning – NOW! Not if you are busy – but because you are busy. Make yourself your own client and schedule activities in like everything else – see how they balance you without making a big deal out of it. The reality is that you will need to make some changes to how you treat yourself. Planning is boring, it takes time and it can be difficult. Finding the right things to cook, the time to do it…blah, blah, blah – but step away from the chocolates.

There are plenty of sites that are offering great ways to work on this. Team Brisbane will be updating its site during February with a yearly planner from various sources.
In the meantime check out Oprah.com and join her in The Year of Hopefulness.
5 Top Reasons To Respect Your Body and Yourself!
1. If you are hiding yourself in baggy or unflattering clothes to avoid attention.
2. If you eat when you are emotional - anyone who says “Embrace hunger” is talking rubbish. Food is your friend – not your comforter!
3. How do you treat your top clients? And why aren’t you one of them.
4. Imagine your body as a car – if you don’t service it then it won’t last.
5. Do not be defeated – this is the year of hopefulness – not hopelessness.
