Fruitloops

Some of you may not have heard of Fruitloops? Yes, all of us have heard of that sugar filled stuff we used to eat as kids (froot loops), but what I'm talking about is the Cairns gay and lesbian networking group. Fruitloops is held in cairns, North Queensland every first Friday of the month after business hours and is a social group designed to help you meet others with the same interests: to network gay and lesbian business, and to socialise.

It was started by Gigi, an ex Sydney girl who moved up to Cairns with her partner 9 years ago in search of a sea change from the bustling city. On arriving in Cairns, Gigi found it hard to meet and network with businesses in the cairns region that were lesbian/gay run. With her previous experience in the party and events industry and her desire to strengthen gay business Gigi was well equipped to get something started. Gigi told QNews. "It was very hard in the beginning to network with other gay and lesbian businesses in the Cairns area; that's what gave me the inspiration"

Since then, Gigi has worked at getting the gay and lesbian community together with a focus on helping business relations, new ventures and networking opportunities as well as providing a great end of the week stress relief with the opportunity to socialise, relax and meet new like minded people.

Fruitloops has also set up its own website providing North Queensalnd with gay business listings, GLBT community listings and up and coming events, not just for business, but also awareness of the group and its purpose.

So if you are visiting, new to Cairns or a true local with a shared desire to increase your work relations or just have a Friday knockoff and nibbles, come along and enjoy the great welcoming atmosphere and meet some new friends at the next Fruitloops.

Fruitloops is held every first Friday of the month from 5pm - 8pm
