GAY DAY PLEASES AGAIN

Once again, thousands filled the streets outside the Wickham hotel for Brisbane’s Gay Day.
The party was set to please the enormous crowd with the final of the Mr Q Contest kicking off early.
The contest was Co-hosted by QNews’ Deeje and Project Runway Australia contestant Leigh Buchanan.
Among the judges was out comedian and triple J breakfast host Tom Ballard. The proud winner of a Russell Flemming photo shoot and portfolio, along with a pleasure pack from Club Cruise, the much-coveted QNews cover boy status and lets not forget $10,500 worth of Domayne furniture was the bubbly and gorgeous Dwain of the gold coast. All contestants had a great time, as did the audience.
Acclaimed cover band Killer Queen blew the audiences minds with their pitch perfect performance before Mega Drag pulled out a lavish and stylish number, showcasing what the Kings and Queens of our great sunshine state can do.
The afternoon was hosted by Miss Synthetique and kiwi comedienne Cal Wilson who told QNews that it was “an honour to be asked to host.”
“I think it’s great to see the support for the event, and I’m glad to help out,” she said.
To close off the party, an astonishing performance by Kelly Rowland got the hearts and bodies of the audience racing. She belted out her party anthem When Love Takes Over as the crowed basked in an already awesome atmosphere.
Brisbane’s Gay Day celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. It is the second largest GLBTI party in Australia and raises much needed funds for community charities.
