Recently QNews brought you the story of a couple of gay penguins who were caught stealing eggs from other straight couples before replacing them with round rocks in a bid to become fathers at their home in the Polar Land Zoo in North East China.
The pair were separated from the other penguins so as they would not disrupt the mating season, but after international headlines and protesters storming the zoo, the happy couple were given their own egg to look after from an inexperienced mother.
In recognition of their impressive achievement, the zoo management decided to award the animals with a highly unusual award, namely they threw them a big wedding. The animals were properly dressed for the occasion in traditional Chinese wedding attire. One of them wore a red blouse that nearly covered him up, while the other was given a red bow tie and despite the icy conditions, neither of them got cold feet. They were wed under a flowery arch, and the ceremony ended with a big feast, where they had plenty of fish to share around with their fellow penguins, who came by to wish them well in their new life.
Now who says China isn’t a bastion for civil liberties? At least their gay penguins can marry.
