GOLD COAST GAY DAY

After an unfortunate absence in 2007, Gold Coast Gay Day is back and will be held on the May Day long weekend in 2009 at Firth Park in Mudgeeraba.

Preparations are well underway with the organizing committee now calling for Volunteers, Entertainers, DJ’s and Stall Holders. “The venue is perfect!” said Roni Schmutsch who is a member of the organizing committee. “Firth Park can cater for a great day, and because it is an indoor/ outdoor venue the weather won’t present any problems. The venue can easily cater for the crowds we are hoping to attract.”

Stall holders and entertainers are now being coordinated for the event. “We would like to hear from local Singers, Bands and DJ’s. This is a Gold Coast event and there is so much local talent so we’d like to showcase our local entertainers as well as other entertainers from the Brisbane area and Queensland”

The event is shaping up to be a great day for the community as well as being part of three days of LGBT community events for the Gold Coast.

The Tropical Alternatives Queer Film Festival will be held the day before on Saturday with a Community Picnic Brunch being held in Surfers Paradise on the Monday of the long weekend hosted by the local Gay and Lesbian Social Group Happy Campers.

Gold Coast Gay Day season and the Logo for the event will be launched on Feb 14th at WOODCHOPPERS INN Railway Street Mudgeeraba at 4.30pm – 6.30pm. There will also be a presentation during the launch to Care for Life from monies raised at the last Gold Coast Gay Day.
