Happy Campers
If you are looking to meet new people on the Gold Coast/ Northern NSW in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, then Happy Campers is perhaps the answer that you seek. Happy Campers is a LGBT social group who meet in Tweed Heads to BBQ, socialise amongsts friends and to make new ones.
The idea for Happy Campers was born on Australia Day in 2005 after talking to other gay friends and realising there wasn't a lot on The Coast for the gay community, especially those who weren't into the scene or going to a nightclub.
After hunting around for a suitable location, we decided upon Chris Cunningham Park in Tweed Heads. This venue offered bbq facilities, local shopping centre, public amenities and was close to transport.
After a lot of organising the very first Happy Campers was held in April of the same year.
Happy Campers is open to people of all ages and the entire community, regardless of whether they are gay, lesbian, bi or transgender.
Four years later Happy Campers is still held at the same venue and going strong.
In the past 4 years we have had a wide range of diverse people attend. The youngest person to attend was 16 at the oldest is 76.
Happy Campers is on every 2 months of 2009 and updated dates can be viewed on our website www.happycampers.com.au
The people who attend, find it to be a relaxing and social gathering where they can be themselves and have a nice afternoon, catch up with friends and meet new people.
We hope through public support, local publications and word of mouth, Happy Campers will remain to be a strong part of the community on the Gold Coast.
