Lesbian Social Guide

For those of you living outside of Brisbane or a
looking for a good night out in a different location,
then look no further. I know myself that I often forget
about the Lesbian groups that exist outside of my own
bubble, but this week I will take a look at what is out
there for those who either live on the Darling Downs or
the Coastal regions of South East Queensland
If you live on the Gold Coast or happen to be down that
way for a weekend and are wanting to hit the town,
you could check out FEATHERS WOMEN’S CLUB.
Feather’s is the longest running Gay Women’s Social
Club on the Gold Coast and holds monthly dances on
the 3rd Saturday of every month, as well as many other
gatherings, outings and sporting endeavors. Created
over 17 years ago the club grew out of necessity for a
club for women that was more accessible for those living
on the Gold Coat and surrounding areas. So why not

Or try out CHIC, a women’s only bar in Helensvale. Their
venue includes Pool Tables, Cheap Drinks, Great Outdoor
Area and a Jukebox, so why not go out and meet some

If you live on the north side of the city, then check out
LOTSAH, an acronym for Lesbians on the Sunshine
Coast and Hinterland. It is a social group designed to
bring lesbians together, through regular social activities.
LOTSAH meets on the 4th Friday of every month at
7.30pm at the Surf and Turf in Mooloolaba. For more info

Or you could check out the LEMON LOUNGE. A lesbian
social dinner network held on the 2nd Wednesday of
each month at 7.00pm. The venues vary so drop Ricki an
email at
rickicate@msn.com and find out what February has in
store.
SUNSHINE WOMYN is another group on the Sunshine
Coast. The group meet monthly for movies, dinners,
bush walking, beach walks, barbeques, coffee and

But what about those of you who live to the west and
are looking for somewhere to go on a Saturday night?
Well if you happen to live in or around Toowoomba,
you could check out the TOOWOOMBA ALL QUEERS
ASSOCIATION, formally known as the Silver Wheat
Society at the Portadown Hotel. This is a mixed
venue, but still a great night out if you are looking for
something queer friendly. Or you could try a Movie Night
on tuesday nighst or a Coffee Night every thursday night.

CLUB PHOENIX is a Women’s only Club that provides
regular sporting, theatre and social events aiming to
bring women together within the lesbian community.
Club Phoenix holds a Dance on the 1st Saturday
of the month at Brother’s Saint Brendans Leagues
Club, Tramore Street, Rocklea. All are welcome www.

The OWLS (Older Wiser Lesbians) is a social group
for women 35 years and over situated in and around
Brisbane. Offering a range of activities through out the
year including picnics, outings, dances and weekly

CITY LICKERS formed in 2005 and is for lesbians, of
all ages and all styles. Its goal is to unify the lesbian
community and embrace our diversity. They hold lesbian
events through out the year including picnics, weekends

Perhaps you could head down to the Sportsman Hotel
and check out SHIBAR on the 3rd Friday of each month.
A relaxed friendly women’s only bar where lesbian
and straight women of all ages and backgrounds are

month is the SCARLET LIVE VENUE & NIGHTCLUB. Be
entertained by some of Australia’s best lesbian talent,
