Honouring our Activists: How did we do what we did…..? Sharing stories of triumphs, stuff ups and outrageous acts of courage: LGBT activists past and present are invited to participate with Playback Theatre to celebrate, mourn and laugh. And no doubt younger members of Brisbane’s gay brigade will also be interested to learn a little more about the rich history that has seen the LGBT community unite to celebrate 20 years of Pride Festivals in Brisbane.
Brisbane’s Playback Theatre is a unique improvisational theatre with no script. The material for the performance comes from the audience. No Playback Theatre performance is like any other and no-one quite knows what to expect when they walk through the doors. That is the spontaneous nature of Playback, for actors and audience alike. Playback offer training workshops to the public throughout the year. They are fun and are a great way to experience more Playback and possibly a whole new world of possibilities!
There are bound to be some fascinating - almost unbelievable - stories told and re-enacted, about the decades before homosexuality was legalised in Queensland in 1989. This important Pride Festival event is sponsored by the QAHC Healthy Communities Fund as part of their LGBT History Project.
