Queens Ball nominations open

On Saturday 6 June, Brisbane will host the inaugural Queens Ball Community Awards night, a gala sit-down event to be held at the Judith Wright Centre as part of this year's Brisbane Pride Festival.

Scott Hampson, President of Brisbane Pride Festival, said the Queens Ball Community Awards aim to celebrate the efforts of community groups and individuals who promote the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in Brisbane and throughout the country.

“The theme of this year's Pride Festival is 'One Community' and we felt it was time to start celebrating the fantastic efforts of so many people in our community who not only stand up for gay rights but are actively campaigning for equality on a daily basis,” said Scott.

“This includes everyone from political activists and business owners to artists and sportspeople who are great role-models everyday,” said Scott.

“The Queens Ball Community Awards night will be a smart affair, featuring a special guest MC and fantastic entertainment all night and we hope everyone in Brisbane will show their support,” said Scott.
