Ricky Martin Strips Off For New TV Role

It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of singer and actor Ricky Martin in his upcoming TV role.

The hunky performer sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to talk about how excited he is about his upcoming role in Ryan Murphy’s “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace”.

“I show my tush for the first time on television,” Ricky teased.

“You sure do, more than that!” she added.

The 10-episode series explores the 1997 murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace at his Miami Beach home. Versace was the last victim of killer Andrew Cunanan.

In the series, Martin plays Versace’s longtime boyfriend, model Antonio D’Amico, alongside Edgar Ramirez as Versace, Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, and Darren Criss as Cunanan.

Ricky said the show also addresses the rampant homophobia at that time.

“We’re still dealing with things that we dealt with in the ’90s,” Martin said.

“[Cunanan] went on a killing spree for months … and he was on the list of most wanted of the FBI.

“He was not hiding, but for some reason they never found him. It’s like, ‘Wait, he’s killing gay men, let’s look the other way.’ And that’s what we’re trying to confront at this moment.”

The series will screen in the US later this month, but no Australian airdate has been announced.
