QNews Magazine is a free fortnightly magazine and online news outlet based in Brisbane, Queensland catering to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender,Intersex and queer communities in Australia.


The first edition of QNews was released on December 15, 2000. QNews was originally printed as a tabloid newspaper, following the demise of predecessor publication Brother Sister in November 2000. In the years since the company has transitioned to a fortnightly magazine and online presence.

In 2015 QNews ran into financial difficulties in June 2015 and was facing closure, with a successful crowd campaign this allowed the publication time to secure a different publisher. In September 2015 QNews found a buyer, Richard Bakker a business owner for most of his working life specialised in home and lifestyle maintenance is now actively involved in reviving the LGBTIQ voice in Queensland, Northern Territory and Northern NSW through a range of print and digital media platforms.


QNews Magazine is a Queensland-focused LGBTIQ fortnightly lifestyle magazine catering to members of the Australian LGBTIQ community and their allies. The magazine covers local and national LGBTIQ current affairs, community issues, health, entertainment and culture. The print publication and website are available for free and supported entirely by advertising.

QNews Magazine also runs an online news site, updated daily, with content also distributed online via social media channels. and provides podcasts

The company regularly partners with LGBTIQ community groups around Queensland and northern New South Wales, including Brisbane Pride, Cairns Tropical Pride and Tropical Fruits.

In April 2016, the publication released its 400th issue and celebrated a record for the largest number of issues for a Queensland LGBTIQ print publication.

The company also allows businesses the ability to list their business online via another website for LGBTIQ people seeking welcoming businesses, QDirectory.
