FRANCE – OPENLY GAY AMBASSADOR REJECTED BY VATICAN

The Vatican, home of the Catholic Church, was to receive its first ever openly gay ambassador after France’s Council of Ministers in January approved Laurent Stefanini to take over the role in France’s Villa Bonaparte embassy in the Holy See. The Vatican, however, have appeared to reject the nomination by simply ignoring it. The Vatican will not reject nominations outright, but if left unanswered, it is understood to have declined the offer. While only 44 hectares, The Vatican is a sovereign state in its own right where countries with large numbers of Catholics send ambassadors and consular staff.
