Gym Junkies Wanted For Brisbane’s ’50 Shades’ Comedy Musical

Calling all gym junkies! The Brisbane Arts Theatre are on the hunt for beefcake to star in their new comedy musical.

The hilariously naughty “50 Shades! The Musical Parody” is a send-up of a certain erotic novel you might’ve heard of and the show’s been seen by over 300,000 people worldwide since its premiere in 2014.

Now the Brisbane Arts Theatre is bringing the production to town in May, directed by Nathan Parmenter, and they’ve put out a casting call for muscular men who want to appear in the show.

“We’re looking for a hunky man not afraid to take his shirt off and be ogled by over 2,000 audience members,” Nathan explained.

“The ability to sing and dance isn’t required but if you’ve got some Magic Mike-style moves we’d love to hear from you. We need someone charismatic, charming and perv-worthy!”

Anyone interested would need to attend a handful of rehearsals, and then be available for performances from May through August. The performer will be paid as part of a profit share arrangement.

An off-Broadway hit in New York, it’s the first time the “50 Shades” musical has come to Australia and with 10% of the Brisbane tickets already snapped up it’s on its way to becoming a sell-out season, Nathan said.

Auditions are being held on Wednesday March 15. To apply, contact the director at [email protected] or via the Brisbane Arts Theatre office on 3369 2344. For more information about the Brisbane Arts Theatre, visit their website.
