In 1983, the original Beat Nightclub boasted a single bar and just one dancefloor.
Today the Beat Megaclub boasts five nightclubs, seven bars and six beer gardens.
An icon of the Brisbane entertainment scene, it has grown as other clubs have come and gone and expanded into the building – and then buildings – surrounding it.
As Fortitude Valley morphed into Brisbane’s premiere Entertainment Precinct, the Beat Megaclub grew with it.
Today it is renowned as a one-stop entertainment destination, open 365 days of the year.
To celebrate 35 years as Party Central, the Beat Megaclub is throwing their biggest party ever on November 18 with special performances by artists past and present and a reunion of staff, DJs and performers from the three and a half decades of the club’s history.
There’s a special birthday treat for the audience at 9pm when veteran Beat Megaclub performers take the stage in a tribute to the club’s long history of drag entertainment in the Valley.
General Manager Justin Rosenberg said, “35 years is a massive milestone for a nightclub and we wanted to pay tribute to the full range of our entertainment history.
“Rest assured we will be presenting some true legends of the Brisbane drag scene at 9pm, but we are keeping the identities secret until showtime.
Justin said there were also a couple of surprises in store for longtime Beat Megaclub operator and Queen’s Ball Lifetime Achievement Award winner Mr John Hannay.
