Young queer people with a history of verbal, sexual and/or physical victimisation and abuse have higher levels of social and mental health problems than heterosexual young people – including dangerous use of alcohol and drugs.
Daniel Demant is doing a research study for his PhD on the influence of social identities and community attitudes on substance use in lesbian, gay and bisexual adolescents and young adults.
He is looking for lesbians, gays and bisexuals aged 14 to 35 who have drunk alcohol and/or used illicit drugs in their lifetime for an anonymous interview of 30 minutes to an hour in length.
Participants in the research will receive a $30 gift card from H&M.
