US – WORLD PRIDE HONOURS STONEWALL 50TH ANNIVERSARY

New York has been confirmed as the host city for World Pride in 2019, the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots of June 1969 which saw a violent backlash against constant police harassment and raids of gay bars. The riots are often cited as the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. Held every few years, previous World Pride host cities include Toronto, Rome, Jerusalem, and London. The next world pride will be held in Madrid in 2017.
