Jessica Mauboy has finally unveiled the song she’ll perform at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
The Darwin-born perform will sing the uplifting anthem “#We Got Love” at the contest in Portugal in May.
“I love the Eurovision Song Contest. I have since I was a little girl watching it with the family in Darwin,” the singer said.
“I wanted to write a song that captured that instinctive sense of joy of how a great song can change the darkest of moods into happiness.
“‘#We Got Love’ is also about how music can lift the human spirit. You can always rise above in the hardest times with something as simple as a great song.
“Eurovision, to me, is people brought together through a real love of music and all the joy that music can bring,” Mauboy said.
“I can’t wait to perform this song live in Portugal and see it connect with a global audience at such a special time.”
In 2014, Mauboy was invited to perform as an interval act at that year’s contest in Copenhagen, Denmark, becoming the first non-European solo artist to do so.
X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace was Australia’s contender last year, following in the footsteps of Guy Sebastian and last year’s runner-up Dami Im.
Singer Salvador Sobral won the 2017 competition with his love ballad “Amar Pelos Dois.”
The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Lisbon, Portugal and will screen in Australia on SBS from May 9 to 13.
